Opening day of Dreamforce: keynote Salesforce CEOs Marc Benioff and Keith Block
The first day of Salesforce Dreamforce in San Francisco. Our colleagues Jort Roelink, Christophe Poleur and Joram Timmerman, and of course special reporter little Frank, went to visit the keynote session of Keith Block and Marc Benioff and a session on the Salesforce Playground. Discover their findings:
Opening keynote
Entering the venue our senses got overwhelmed with sounds of birds twittering, gentle Hawaiian live music playing in the foreground, the scent of fresh forests at the entrance and visually stunning lush green forest like environment all around us. It was quite a show!
A few things really hit home listening to the opening speech of Salesforce’s CEOs Keith Block and Marc Benioff. Below are a few of our take aways, though there was a lot more content than we can cover at this moment.
#Doing well and doing good
Salesforce is dedicated to using its position as a leading company to change the world for the better. The company actively supports initiatives focusing on equality, environment, water and sanitation and poverty, just to name a few.
#Customer 360°
Salesforce supports an integrated view on your customer across all clouds as a ‘single source of truth’. This takes place in a multi-cloud environment, also including data from integrated systems via Mulesoft, which is part of the customer 360° experience.
#Data is king
The integration of Tableau with its interactive, user friendly and intuitive analytics takes business intelligence, data analysis and reporting technology within Salesforce to the next level.
#Artificial Intelligence
Salesforce allows users to interact with the platform in a more and more intuitive, user friendly way. You are always having relevant data at the fingertips in the form of next best actions, suggestions and recommendations. The innovations is further enhanced by advanced text to speech capabilities and Natural Language Processing.
The key note speech by Marc Benioff was briefly interrupted by a protestor, who was then offered 30 seconds to speak, but the message was lost as the person did not have a microphone. We are looking forward to attending more in-depth sessions and going into more detail about some of the topics covered, in particular ‘customer 360’. Stay tuned for more content!
Trailhead Playground
Keynote check, quick lunch done,… Ready for the first deep dive sessions at Dreamforce! In Moscone West Center we went to some awesome sessions on the Trailhead Playground.
We had a demonstration of the possible applications of Custom Meta Data Types. Since Summer 19, Custom Meta Data Types can be used in the Salesforce Process Builder, which is awesome! Besides that, the famous VLookup function will become available in Spring 20, so records can be queried!
Another cool thing we explored today is the release of Permission Set Groups, which will be launched in Spring 20! A bulk of Permission Sets can be grouped and assigned to multiple users! An additional feature of Permission Set Groups is to amend permissions from a managed package without the need to clone the permission set to make changes.
We are sure that above functionalities are quick wins for many of our customers and we will keep you guys posted with all other stuff coming up! In the mean time check out more detailed information via this link.

Salesforce Partner Learning Camp
Salesforce invests a lot in knowledge building and sharing on the platform. As Marc Benioff already highlighted, it’s all about doing it together. The partner ecosystem is incredibly important as you can see in the picture below. For partners Salesforce supports a special Partner Learning Camp. This is an on-demand environment based on My Trailheads and other valuable sources where partner admins and consultants can work together, share knowledge and entend their expertise.
A perfect place to boost your Salesforce skills and increase your time to value. The Partner Learning Camp is fully integrated with the consultants’ personal Trailhead profile and the AppExchange listing of partners, so it is extremely valuable for your branding as a partner.
